Monthly Community Update from Sgt 7398 VINCE – January 2026

Hello Residents of Shirley,

I hope this message finds you well. As we move through February, I wanted to share a quick round-up of what’s been happening across our local area, what’s coming up, and how we’re working together to keep our community safe and thriving.

🔍 Local Priorities

Our current focus areas include:

VAWG – Officers have provided training and support to our partners to assist with signs of VAWG and signposting victims to help

Burglaries – High visibility patrols around all of Shirley, looking to deter and prevent offending.

Shop Thefts – A mixture of plain clothes and high visibility patrols to catch and prosecute offenders looking to steal from the varied retailers in the area. This resulted in 39 charges being brought against offenders for the month and a number of those with Custodial sentences from the courts.

We’re continuing patrols and targeted operations in these areas, and welcome any feedback or concerns you’d like to raise.

🤝 Partnership Working

We’ve been working closely with:

Solihull Council and the Highways Agency – to address issues around parking in the Solihull Lodge area

These collaborations are helping us respond more effectively and holistically to community needs.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Community Involvement

Thank you to everyone who’s taken part in:

Streetwatch – Understanding and supporting Ukranian nationals within the community with sharing of cultural differences

Community Meetings – There have been ward meetings on Shirley West and South this month. Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of our control the Shirley East meeting had to be cancelled.

Bike Marking Event - In company with bike register and Shirley British Legion we were able to assist in providing bike marking to protect and register bikes across the community.

26/02/26 – Shirley East meeting at Shirley Library, Parkgate at 18.00 hours

🗞️ Round-Up from All Wards

Here’s a snapshot of key updates across our patch:

Shirley West – Successful engagement with local business owner to reduce the number of vehicles being used for on street parking and reduce traffic flow issues.

Shirley South – Successful prosecution of prolific shoplifters providing 20 charges of theft related offences.

Shirley East – Engagement with Tesco's that help provide food donations for community members
